Time for Change

The greatest wealth is health.  ~Virgil        Time for Change

A few weeks ago I went to my doctor for my annual MOT. No problem I thought, therefore you can imagine  how upset I was discovering, for the first time, I had a high cholesterol count. Okay… I know there is a family history, but my lifestyle is healthy isn’t it? After a cup of tea and a biscuit, I decided to analyse what might have encouraged this high and unexpected reading:

Did I exercise daily? 😦

Chocolate and crisps for snacks? √

Could I make a few adjustments here?

How often do we kid ourselves on that all is well, when we are not proactive enough to take charge of our own health?

I have now completed my first week of my new regime and already I feel much better, and dare I say it, a little fitter too. My introduction to Yoga and Mediation has helped me focus and set myself achievable goals. Each morning I now decide what I want from the day ahead and record my daily achievements on my iPhone Health app. Throughout the day, I make sure I am drinking more water, eating the right balance of good foods and make myself physically relax, even for a few minutes. It’s amazing the difference this has made!

I know you may have heard this all before, but in my opinion it’s worth it.

Take your life forward, make the changes, one step at a time.

Do it today, not tomorrow or the next day; the rewards are there for the taking.
